Im not saying this is the case with draftsight but you as a drafter should be able to determine if the program is capable of maintaining your historical throughput. Some didn't change much of anything and indeed saved money, others were prone to poor quality and ultimately cost more than it saved. in a past life i worked in a different industry and we switched suppliers for a cheaper consumable on several process we had. I would, however, voice my concerns if you think that the switch will not be an effective measure in cost savings. Its a bummer if that's the only system you know, though there are many cross overs and i'm sure if you have been drafting a while it wont be to hard to adapt. When I get there it will actually be better than before because I will be able to get all kinds of shapes cut that couldn't be done on a guillotine and it will mean I can email a drawing then collect all the pieces ready to weld together, rather than grappling with an 8x4 sheet and cutting it up with oxy, as well as avoiding paying for delivery, as I can fit ready cut pieces in the car. I'm trying to get to grips with CAD at a basic level so I can get a laser cutting company to cut out various pieces of 5mm steel plate for me since I no longer have access to a huge guillotine.
